24"x16" oil on canvas. • Well, this is my last post for 2012 and when I realized that you had only seen a small portion of this piece in one of my art show promos, I thought it fitting to post it now. It garnered a lot of attention at my opening night and it just seems Christmassy to me. Okay, maybe not 'Christmassy' in the traditional sense, but more like, "I wouldn't dare give this gentleman just a lump of coal in his stocking," sense. With that stare, it would be more of a "Here, just take my car keys and a very Merry Christmas to you too." This is one of those portraits that actually belies the fact that this man is very nice. He just chose to look at the artist in this fashion (and I do probably deserve that stare of suspicion). ••• One thing this piece does illustrate is how fun shadows can be. When I come back to look at it, I find those dark areas are the ones I ponder. But, as you all know, I also ponder shiny objects and the occasional chicken, so don't pay any attention to me.
Thank you.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! I really do appreciate everybody who follows my work (especially my collectors and subscribers) and those who put up with my inane commentary. So, a big, big THANK YOU from me to you and I do truly wish you the best in the New Year. ••• Oh, and if you get bored over the holidays, go check out my show. I wouldn't want the gallery owner to get lonely.

Tootsie Pop Red
4"x6" oil on raymar panel. • This will be my last auction of the year. 'Tis a busy season and I will be taking some time off from posting (not painting) until after the New Year. It's just the way I roll and if anybody has a problem with it, they may contact my complaint department. But I must warn you: She doesn't respond to my complaints, so she probably won't respond to yours. Anyway, the only surprising thing about this painting is that the Tootsie Pop wrapper is actually the same size as the infield tarp at Dodger Stadium. I had no idea the dang wrapper was going to be so big. It made the composition a bit of a challenge, but I think it worked out. And yes, I did steal this from one of The Spawn, but they should have known better than to let down their defenses when The Father Unit was skulking about.
My One Man Show Update
The opening reception for my show at the Sycamore Gallery was great! Many thanks to all who came to talk and view my work. At one point in the evening it was so crowded that it was a little tough moving around. That is not a complaint; the more the merrier for the artist. If you missed the opening, but still wish to see the show, it will be hanging at the gallery until January 31st. Go check it out! Gallery info below.

Brownie Starlet Camera
30"x30" oil on canvas. • Have I shown this painting to you yet? I cannot remember. I painted a little 5"x5" version of this first, which really helped me sort out some issues before taking it larger. • My upcoming show (see details below) is all very exciting, but what is really exciting is the time of year. No, not that a fat dude is running around in a fuzzy red suit. It's the time of year when Trader Joe's has their Dark Chocolate Star cookies! We buy so many that we need a U-Haul truck to get them home. I won't argue my deserving a lump of coal, but don't even think about taking my Dark Chocolate Star cookies.
