8"x8" oil on canvas ••• I have been experimenting with Mr. Hendrix here to see what I can do with him. This is one of a few pieces I have done so far. • Whenever I paint a significant person like Mr. Hendrix, I get thrown the inevitable question: "Wow! You must love fill in the blank so much! Is he/she/it a hero of yours?" • As I have probably stated in the past, very few people qualify as heroes to me. Yes, Mr. Hendrix was an amazing artist, but I usually choose my subject matter based on aesthetics. For example, Mr. Hendrix and Mr. Einstein—another person I have painted several times—had a common aesthetic in that they both had whacked out coiffures. Yes, freaky wild hair is an aesthetic I am apparently drawn to. ••• Speaking of freaky wild, it is going to be a very busy beginning of 2020 for me (see below). Mr. Hendrix here will be showing at the Brittany Davis Gallery show.
