4"x6" oil on raymar panel. • Okay, remember the Zinke's painting I posted a few days ago? Now, imagine you are standing in front of Zinke's, then turn to your left roughly 90 degrees—you are now looking at the right side of this burger stand. I must confess that I do not and never did nosh at this burger stand. I am more of a deli kinda guy. So, if you turned 180 degrees from the view of this painting and walked down about half a block, there is a deli I grew up eating at, that had fresh cut pickles and, during its heyday, if they ever dared to serve a sandwich that was less than 3-4 inches tall, they would have had a riot on their hands. You see, there used to be a law stating that a pastrami sandwich, or any other type of meat sandwich, must never, ever have less than 2 to 3 inches of meat on it—a club should be at least 5 to 6 inches tall. You should be able to look at the sandwich with the realization that it could easily feed a family of six, there is no possible way it will fit into your mouth, and that you will, most assuredly, drop dead after eating it. Aah, fond memories that will live in my aorta forever.
