Joe & Sherlock Holmes
14"x11" oil on canvas. I have been informed that I apparently died and fell off the face of the earth last week. At least that is what many people wrote to ask. I appreciate all the emails and concern — Thank you. The gist of the emails went something like this, "Hey, Raymond! Where's my(?) daily painting that usually pops up on my _______ (fill in the blank with any of these: monitor, iPhone, laptop, computer, iPad, phone, doohickey, etc.). Oh, and are you okay?" I apologize for not informing you that the Beverly Hills show is coming up and I have painted some larger paintings and all this furnished me with an excuse to leave my beloved easel and attend to my other mistress: my table saw. Or, in other words, I just plain ol' needed to make some frames, so no painty and no posty. Sorry for the lack of communication. • Now that's out of the way, let's talk about the painting above, besides the fact that it needs a frame. If it appears somewhat dark, that is because it is. Not emotionally, I am not that deep, I mean the values are somewhat dark. Don't know why I painted it that way, just felt like it I guess. Heck, when I walked into the studio that day, I didn't even know I was going to paint this, it just sorta happened. Can't think of anything else to say about it other than the fact that I like Sherlock Holmes and I really like coffee and sometimes I like to paint. So there you have it. • Thanks again for all the concern.
