Toni

10"x8" oil on canvas. Here I am again playing around with the temperatures in skin tones. Messing with the warms and cools is just too tempting for me to resist, so I go for it. Before I did this painting, I was thinking about how little cad yellow I have been using lately and then here I go putting about five gallons of it in the background to the right of Toni's cheek. That's what's great about painting, every piece is different, requiring you to change your approach. Becoming too comfortable with one's palette is, in my opinion, a little dangerous for a painter. Try new things and hope the model doesn't walk around the easel and throttle you for experimenting on them.
