Anne's Gourd #2

6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. Since my last painting and posting (February 4th) of this old gourd, it has faded and shriveled a little, but it is still an interesting subject.
I have been using it as a paperweight. The stripes have faded making the light side beautiful. So, of course, I paint the dark side. It's just fun going after the subtleties in the shadows and it is more challenging making the form turn. The dark side can sometimes appear flat, but of course it isn't. It just might need some gentle coaxing to urge it along.
