Tea Mug
6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. This started out as a completely different painting. I scraped off the earlier image and painted this Japanese tea mug instead and I am happy I did it - no time for regrets. Sometimes it just needs to be done. The light colored glaze on the inside of this mug made it just irresistible. As you can probably tell, I enjoy negative space and this painting is strong evidence. The only regret I have is that this picture did not capture the purple hues on the front of the mug, I guess they are too subtle. When this happens I wish I could show everybody these paintings in person.
