6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. Last month was smoke detector battery changing time and I still haven't disposed of the batteries, so I painted one. The black just looks like black until you stop and really look at it. Then you notice the top is actually purple and the side has red bouncing up into it. Black surfaces can be a lot of fun to paint. Like shadows, there can be some interesting colors dancing around in there.
