Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots

32"x48" oil on canvas ••• Here is another piece from my show currently hanging at the Brittany Davis Gallery. I know I showed you an easel shot of this piece before, but I finally have a good picture of it and some juicy detail shots to share with you. Back in the dark ages, we had one of these toys and, of course, my brother and I broke it. Tore the poor thing apart within minutes of it coming out of the box. It would have had to of been solid steel to survive us. The model that posed for this piece was pilfered from The Spawn and now permanently resides in my studio. And no, they cannot have it back, it is mine now! ••• Moving on from my obnoxious display of selfishness... I often heavily manipulate my color temperatures (warms and cools) and this piece is a good example of that manipulative behavior. The shift direction on this piece is warm on the left shifting to cool on the right—the opposite direction of the boxers. I am pointing it out because while I always manipulate my temperatures, it is not always as evident as it is in this piece. Maybe I made the decision to make it so blatant because our two pugilistic friends represent warm and cool themselves. Who knows why I did it? Apparently I don't.
