It is a recently finished piece that I rushed to the Beverly Hills Art Show and the ungrateful man left me (a.k.a., it sold). • When it comes to subject matter, portraits are my first love. Whether it is painting from a live model or these dead guys, I love it all. • Big beards with lots of acreage are a playground for me. Whether they be on live guys or dead guys or strangely ambiguous circus performers, I throw everything I have at them to see what sticks. In this case, I think the entire palette stuck to this poor guy.
