Dwarf Pumpkin vs. Chinese Horse

4"x6" oil on raymar panel This is one of those, "just walking through the house and picking up things" paintings. That is exactly what I did; I snagged the horse and pumpkin because they were there and because they looked like they did not belong together. Hence, the cage-fighting title. Not only does the horse look like it is going to punch the pumpkin, the two items really do not naturally go together (thematically, chromatically, compositionally—you pick the "…ally" adverb—they do not really fit). In my twisted mind, that makes the duo a perfect subject.
