8"x12" oil on canvas panel. • A little while ago, I visually tortured you with two little paintings of old gas pumps. Well, this is the wonderful little station where those pumps reside. I know there are people on my mailing list who are from or currently reside in or are at least vaguely familiar with the city of Monrovia, so I will confess up front: Yes, this station is actually positioned at 45 degrees to a corner and yes I did straighten out that corner. All I can say in my defense is that I am an artist and I have the power to bend the world to my wishes (that sentence should be followed by a maniacal laugh—bawa ha ha!, or a Bazinga!—or something like that). The corner just didn't work for me, so I had the city come in, demo the sidewalk and pour a straight one—traffic flow be damned. Again... Bazinga!
