Thrift Store Bottles

4"x6" oil on raymar panel. These bottles were living in a dingy display in a thrift store in San Luis Obispo. I thought they were a steal, so here they are in oil paint. The brown bottle is a Lysol bottle and the broad clear one is a Nujol bottle—you might be able to detect the name in the glass. Now, I know what Lysol is, but I had to look up Nujol. Nujol is a brand of mineral oil with a charlatanesque origin circa the 1850s involving "Old Bill" Rockefeller. Didn't take the time to corroborate the story and I don't need the Rockefellers breathing down my neck, so I will leave it at that.
