Under the 101 Freeway

6"x4" oil on raymar panel. This bike path/jogging trail/whatever runs along the Santa Maria River (the scrub you saw in yesterday's painting). This location is actually very close to the vantage of yesterday's painting. I just started to walk along the path when it dipped under the freeway and wow – there were these great angles, shapes, grays, and shadows. Along with their never-ending shift between warm and cool, the grays sucked up what seemed like a hundred gallons of white paint. A situation that I normally don't relish, but I think this came out alright. I wonder how this would look as a bigger painting - hmm.
