4"x6" oil on board. I guess you could call this an exercise in staging. On a stage the players, props, and sets are arranged in an attempt to control the viewers attention. In much the same manner, a painter employs composition, values, hues, yada, yada, yada, in an attempt to control where your eye goes. Of course, some painters do the opposite, forcing you to make your own decisions. Or maybe they don't want you to be able to make those decisions. This is starting to sound like a Psych 101 lesson, so let's stop here. By the way, "yada" is an official art term.
