4"x6" oil on board. I know the title of this painting is a now old fashion term for an old acquaintance, but this is really just an old shoe. Blossom Dearie used the phrase in her great version of "My New Celebrity is You." I love that song, it ranks right up there with her version of "Peel Me a Grape". Painting the side of this shoe was one of those "Wow! Look at all the color in the grays" moments. The light source just seemed to skim along the shoe leaving its side a patch work of shadows and reflective light. Not bad for an old shoe.
