6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. At first glance, this backlit set up offered only two values, that of the shadow and light sides. They formed two interesting shapes that I used to initially build this painting. Then I backed off, and really looked at these simple blocks and noticed all the subtle value changes and reflected light. These subtleties bring a painting to life.
