6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. More flowers from my garden. Statice, or sea lavender for you gardeners, is a perennial bloomer. Once they seed, they volunteer in your garden forevermore. The flowers are only 1/8" to about 1/4" in size, but come in clusters of hundreds if not thousands. It is another flower that forces an abstraction due to the mass of flowers. The flowers range in color from crimson, cool purple, warm purple, to a very few white. The architectural stems remind me of an Egon Schiele drawing. This little (3-3/4" tall) yard sale bottle was perfect for holding the flower and was fun to paint with all the light twisting around in it.
