Old Fan
16"x20" oil on canvas. Before painting this old fan, I told another artist that its wonderfully tarnished surfaces contained every color on my palette. This turned out to be more than hot air, because those beautiful blades did take every color I had. Much of the ragged power cord is painted against form then carved in by its surroundings. Just like bunches of flowers, I looked at it as more of an abstraction than a realistic rendering.
