Turnip on Block
6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. This is the last day for Ginny's turnips. The end is near for these poor little guys, so I had to take one last shot at painting one of them. The skin on a turnip is a great study in color temperatures. Cool and warm can be side by side on both the white and purple surfaces. I also like how the stem's shadow is particularly strong due to the close light source.
