Back to the Statice Quo
6"x4" oil on raymar panel. Here I am, back in the saddle again (cue either Gene Autry or Aerosmith, it's your choice) and I am painting a flower whose botanical name surely translates to "Drives Artists Insane/DO NOT PAINT." Some people call it statice, some call it sea lavender, I call it the freaky flowers we used one year to cover giant Smurfs on a Rose Parade float. Whatever you call it, I have found the best way to deal with it is to paint it as vaguely as possible, kind of like clouds. I am just here to give you the idea of the stuff. There are approximately a gazillion little blue/purple flowers in this painting alone, so to maintain what little sanity I have left, there's no way I'm painting all of them. Sorry for the painfully bad title. It seemed clever at the time (3AM).
