Spoon and Small Plum

6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. That's not a typo, it's a plum, not a cherry. This full-grown, cherry-size
d plum came from our non-fruiting plum tree. The spoon is there for scale, but what it actually produced was a very sound composition. All of that beautiful negative space amplifies the diminutive plum. Of course the spoon provided plenty of entertainment. I had to have the subjects close to me, a consequence of which was that every time I moved, the surface of the spoon changed. It is too small to tell, but I am splattered all over that spoon.
