6"x4" oil on gessoed door skin. This may look the same, but it is a different sprig of statice from the one I painted earlier. The stem structure was just so intriguing to paint. I tilted it back a bit to see the structure and it turned out looking kind of like a tree. This painting is bigger than the actual sprig. The picture may not show it well, but the stem edges are carved with a sculpting tool.
